    Re: 9-9-24 Reds @ Braves 6 40 PM

The game tonight comes after a rare scenario where it is a makeup game from earlier in the season and will only be a one game set before the Braves play the Nationals tomorrow.

The Braves’ rotation is on a streak of twenty-seven straight games where they have allowed three or fewer runs. To put this in perspective, when the streak reached nineteen, it was the best since 1915 (that is not a typo). The Braves are 17-10 in that stretch.

Tonight will feature Charlie Morton on the mound. Ever since his terrible start on August eighth where he gave up eight earned runs in 2.2 innings against the Brewers, he has been much better than his season stats show. Since then he has a 3.25 ERA, 3.61 FIP, with hitters slashing .250/.345/.394 against him over five starts and 27.2 innings. This is with hitters being a bit fortunate against him with a .354 batting average of balls in play (BABIP).

The Braves will be facing Nick Martinez who sports a 3.67 ERA and 1.153 WHIP this season. Both are better than his career averages. According to Statcast, his expected ERA this season shows he has actually been unlucky with an xERA of 3.49 with his actual ERA being higher. His walk rate of 3.6 percent is among the best in the entire sport with only two percent of qualified pitchers having a better walk rate.

India day to day with sore elbow

Sept. 8: 2B Jonathan India (left elbow discomfort) exits early
India is day to day after exiting Sunday's 3-1 win over the Mets due to what the team called left elbow discomfort. India, who could play as soon as Monday, was in visible pain after swinging and missing on his strikeout in the top of the sixth. He was replaced at second base by Amed Rosario to start the bottom of the inning.

It won't be as rare in the future, as now half of each teams opponents will be for just one series.

    Marte is so fundamentally flawed.

He needs to be in AA or AAA next season.

If he can't fix his fundamentals at the minor league level, I don't want anything to do with him. Trade him while he's still a prospect.

Friedl looked slower than a Senior Citizen running around those bases.

    Great job, Ty!

    Stand up Double.

The naysayers keep waiting for him to stop hitting.

Same with Espinal, who only happens to have the highest batting average in ALL OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL OVER THE LAST TWO MONTHS.

Espinal stroked another one, heading for extra bases and another hit w/ a RISP, but if not for bad luck.
