Yes and that is why I want Greene back for a couple more starts. The more innings they pitch this year the more they can go next year. Don't get why some don't understand that. If it was up to some Greene would be shut down and Lowder would have never been called up. Because he might get his confidence destroyed if he gives up a few runs or some nonsense.

They point to Cody Reed being rushed. It all came down to Cody Reed simply not being good enough at the major league level

34 year veteran umpire Larry Vanover called an atrocious game.

    ...but the human element?

Felt like this guy was calling all of Tom Glavine's games.

Your house is safe. I stand by my post. I believe most relievers could handle pitching four or five days in a week. They have been coddled to the point where they might think they can't do it, but they can. I understand 21st century wussyball and why they do what they do. Just saying, a pitcher really could pitch four or five days. Marshall preached how to take care of your body to be able to do it. Baseball didn't listen. It went extreme in the coddled direction for pitchers.

I need to look up how many times the Reds were +\- on the year. My money is 75/25 they are on the negative

Did the Reds set or at least tie a record last night? That's 3 wins in 3 days in 3 different cities.

I hadn't thought about that. Pretty remarkable for anyone.

Pitchers getting tired as the season goes on is only a subject that's discussed daily here and on every baseball website.

They even have a rule for the danger zone called "The Rule of 30" regarding pitcher's safety from overwork from one inning to the next.

Nothing is more coddled than a Pitcher's arm when it comes to stamina.

How many times has a Pitcher been shut down just for the REDS this season from overwork? Dozens? More than 50 times?

The flawed logic was yours, not mine.

Of those 10, Elly had at least 4 of them in his first 3 PA's. I think it was 5. Two Outside, one inside and two low. The umpire expanded the strikezone on Elly by 50%.

The increased spin rates have placed an enormous toll on the fingers, hands, arms and backs of the Pitchers. They just can't do what they used to do. There used to be a lot of illegal substances used to get that spin-rate up. Players aren't the same as they used to be, either.

Prior to WWII, more than half the nation grew up on a farm. Doing those farm chores versus growing up in a City increased the overall stamina and bone structure of these players that would last them their lifetimes. Nobody is in better shape over their lifetime than a Farmer. Body-building does not equate with better physical shape. Natural outdoor work for 6 to 14 hours per day will give a person stamina for Life and not make them susceptible to breakdowns and all of the litany of injuries that today's sports athletes have.

There aren't 1% of athletes today that grew up doing chores on farms every day of their life when it used to be over 50%.

Yeah I was looking at the schedule and just realized it. I'm sure it's happened at least one other time in history. Possibly not. Either way pretty cool feat.

Lance mentioned the 3 wins in 3 days in 3 different cities in his game recap that I shared in post #63 of this thread last night.

The rule of 30 is specifically for young pitchers 23 and younger throwing innings in the major leagues in the second year. It's been overblown into more than that since the study that led to it was done.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I’m positive the broadcasters read RZ during the game….too many coincidences on sharing bizarre factoids. Apparently Lance is in on it too. Smart people.
