This article seams to debunk the referee angle for the Chiefs, at least for last season. 12 out of 17 regular season games the Chiefs were called for more penalties than their opponents. Also, only the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears saw fewer collective penalties against their opponents in the regular season. About 96% of penalties against Chiefs opponents happened before the final two minutes of a game.

DAIJAHN DÉJÀ VU
Anarumo is still bullish on rookie safety Daijahn Anthony even though on two of his nine snaps he had game-changing penalties. "He showed the ability in training camp. He showed the ability to go get the ball both in the preseason games, being around where he's supposed to be," Anarumo said. "He's athletic. He just has a nose for that part of the game. It would be foolish not to use him." "Two different guys. Totally different," Anarumo said. (Anthony) is a deep zone, rangy type guy. Jordan is more of an in-the-box guy. Not that he can't do the other things. Daijahn right now in our minds was the right guy at the right time. It just didn't work out."
His teammates also rallied to him as he wept in the postgame locker room. Ossai, who eerily went through the exact same thing in the same building after the 2022 AFC title game, went to him and recalled how he got past a roughing-the-passer call on Mahomes with 30 seconds left that led to another walkoff field goal. File it, fix it, forget it, Ossai basically told him. Also comforting him was his Ole Miss teammate, rookie edge Cedric Johnson. "I just grabbed him and came up and said, 'Hey, you'll come back and make a huge play for us, or more as the season goes on,''' Anarumo said. "So don't, don't hang your head. You just got nothing to do with one play. That's not how you win or lose your game.'''

That's just a number that the refs can point to to try to debunk their obvious favoritism towards the Chiefs.
I knew when LiferJim stated that "in every big game the Chiefs rarely have any penalties called on them. The numbers don’t lie and typically, just like yesterday, the other teams have double the amount of penalties or more" was 100% wrong. LiferJim chose the wrong statement, but his inference that the refereeing was heavily favored towards the Chiefs were 100% correct. "Total Penalties" is never an indication of favoritism. Timeliness of penalties and timeliness of non-calls are all that matters, and the Chiefs are given the "timeliness" whenever it looks like they are going to lose a game. They were literally handed five wins last season that would have been losses and easily would have knocked them out of the playoffs with a sub-.500 record. And, that was just the regular season. They were then handed home-field advantage throughout the playoffs which gave them a huge edge. They should be 0-2 already this season. This is not a good team. They can't win enough games to make the playoffs without the help from referees.

Falcons easily have the best Safety tandem in the NFL. They are a Super Bowl contender.

Looks like the depth on the Defensive Line is going to get worse before it gets better.
With the Bengals defensive linemen falling like trees ever since training camp with the knee injury to third-round defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson, Anarumo really had to go to the well in Arrowhead. The other rookie tackle, Kris Jenkins Jr. (thumb) was out, as was edge Myles Murphy (knee). They lost starting tackle B.J. Hill and the other starting tackle Sheldon Rankins to hamstring injuries on Sunday. "A little rough. Tired," Ossai said. "But we had guys like (tackle) Zach Carter playing 15 snaps in a row. I'm not going to complain." Bengals head coach Zac Taylor had no update on the status of Hill and Rankins for next Monday night's game with Washington at Paycor Stadium, but says he's talking to the front office about possible replacements.

Anyone know where Lapham's getting this?
Dave Lapham: NFL admits Mike Gesicki's touchdown shouldn't have been overturned
"Gesicki, he goes airborne, 6-6 vs. 6-1. Gotta give credit to the DB, stayed after it trying to punch it out of there and all of that," Lapham said. "He goes to the ground and eventually loses control. They say no touchdown, they overrule it. But the league has come out today and said it was a touchdown. They should not have overruled that thing."

That was a 10-point swing in a game where the Bengals played from behind most of the game. Had it been tied after the first half who knows how that could have impacted play-calling later in the fourth quarter when they had to abandon a running game that was catching fire.

The Bengals today made the following player moves:
**Signed free agent DT Lawrence Guy. Guy (6-4, 315), a 14th-year player out of Arizona State University, originally was a seventh-round draft pick of Green Bay in 2011. He has spent time on the active rosters of the Indianapolis Colts (2012-13), San Diego Chargers ('13-14), Baltimore Ravens ('14-15) and New England Patriots ('17-23). In 177 regular-season games played (122 starts), he has totaled 507 tackles (271 solos), 39 TFLs, 17.0 sacks, 10 PDs, one INT, two FFs and six FRs. He also has played in 13 postseason games (nine starts). Guy was released by the Patriots in February.
**Waived DE KJ Henry. Henry, a second-year player, was acquired on waivers by the Bengals on Aug. 28. He played in each of the team's first two regular-season games (no statistics).
**Released WR Shedrick Jackson from the practice squad. Jackson, a first-year player, originally was a college free agent signee of the Bengals in 2023.
The Bengals' practice squad currently is one spot shy of the 16-player limit.

I'm going to guess, or at least I hope, K J Henry is added to that last practice squad spot. But, with many teams needing D-Line help because of injuries, it's likely that another team picks him up first.
If he's not added, then I hope that's because Myles Murphy is ready to be activated.

The numbers did change during the playoffs. However, the sample size is too small to be conclusive, and it's important to note that penalties per game trended downward during playoff games across the league, according to ESPN's analysis.
In all three postseason games, the Chiefs received fewer flags than their opponents, seeing their lowest percentage all season during the AFC Championship Game, when they had three penalties and the Baltimore Ravens had eight.
This was in the article.
For one I would call playoff games big games and how is the playoffs not the biggest games. Also, to dub this is one season of data. A blind man can see the big calls almost always go the Chiefs way. One year of regular season data almost proves the point that they get the calls in the playoff games or do they suddenly become more disciplined. Pretty obvious to me when you get to hold on every play and get to call your own penalties or replay downs. Name another team that gets that treatment besides when Brady got it.
🤪
Look at the Chiefs penalties in playoff games vs their opponents the last 4 years. Include the super bowls games and you will see a big disparity in the amount of penalties on each team. I did it last year, before last year’s playoffs and wasn’t shocked.
I agree, it’s way more than the number of penalties called. Like life, timing is everything

It's not the number of penalties. It's when they're called. It's often at critical times like 3rd/4th down and in the last minute or so of the game
