Glad the Reds get a win. Doesn't change a disappointing season, but will always take a W!

Freddie Benavides finishes 1-3 as interim manager.

Good ending to the game….not the season

I feel bad by the media, announcers and others employed to fully support the Reds and their crap

Well the season's over. I thought we'd improve a little this season with my target for contention being next season. Lack of depth, injuries and the youngin's all having growing pains.

The hitting needs to be addressed as well as veteran leadership. Time to trade in some of the youth for some vets who are leaders.

    Re: 9-29-24 Reds @ Cubs 3:10 PM

I see it took the Reds to play little league baseball for them to finally win a game to close out the season. Pretty typical of a little league organization. I watched the game up until the 10th. As I have said before I turn off a game when they go to playing little league baseball in extra innings.

I guess they can ride this momentum into 2025 and have another 77 win season. IIRC, I predicted in our predictions thread that I picked 75 wins for this season. So they did two better than I thought. But for different reasons. I felt like the sophomore jinx season would set in for these guys. I suppose it did to a certain extent. Injuries did take their toll and maybe knocked off a few wins. In the end if fully healthy they didn't have enough to make the playoffs because this ownership does not want to spend the money to really win. Just discouraging and disgusting. My fanhood is waning bit by bit every year. But this ownership group they have now is really testing it and as I get older there more things in this world I want to spend my time than watching a second rate MLB organization to continue to spin their wheels just because they won't open their pocketbooks just a little to put them over the top to win.

Actually, they won the old school way. Marte got picked off 2nd before a pitch was thrown. The Reds then proceeded to plate 3 runs. You should’ve kept it on!

Glad the season is over with after all the disappointment. But the season had an ominous start with McClain and Arroyo having to have season ending shoulder surgeries. I didn't think McClain would make it back in 2024 after such a surgery. Then Lodolo went down a few times per usual. Marte got popped with a PED suspension. The season was really over before it even got started, imo.

Runner starting the inning on 2nd is enough for me. I'm out at that point. Laughable though Marte got picked off. He's just terrible. I hate to say it but this guy just doesn't have it. I wouldn't mind if they just cut bait on him this off season. I doubt that he will ever live up to much of anything as a big league player.

Bless you. I hate ghost runners. It was fine for whiffle ball in my granny's backyard but not for big league baseball.

Also, this team has a core of young talent that is plenty good enough , paired up with some established veteran professional ballplayers, to win here. They have the money to buy those professional ballplayers but are just unwilling to do so. That's what it comes down to. They are just too cheap to win. And eventually the window for winning with this exquisite young talent will close in a few short years. I fully expect ownership to let those years of opportunity pass by without much of an effort to win something.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Ghost runners are ghastly. Also, Marte has, perhaps, the lowest baseball IQ of any player I've ever seen. "Gullett" might very well be right, after all.

There’s no misery like a 16 inning game between two teams playing for nothing.

Ghost runners are perfectly fine for regular season games imo
