Less than a week before the Cincinnati Reds decided Terry Francona was their man for the job, they had no idea whether he wanted to manage again, never mind whether he wanted to do it for another small-market Ohio team just one year after stepping away from the Cleveland Guardians for health reasons.

So team president Nick Krall, who barely knew Francona, called the two-time World Series champion from Chicago during the Reds’ off day before their final weekend series of the season against the Cubs, and asked.

Don’t forget Lowder doing a great impression of Andrew Abbott’s debut.

Lowder first 6 starts 1.17 era
Abbott first 6 starts in 2023 1.21 era

Pretty exciting rotation to think about for next couple years. Enough to bring Francona out of retirement.

Who am I? A Reds fan, and not one who needs to try and one-up others all the time, or use MY Reds as a step-stool. Miserable fan? Not at all, and you don't even know me. But I do know your comments are negative ALL of the time, not "almost". I've yet to see you comment specifically in a game thread, about a player, like a civil person. It's always some little one-liner quip you probably got off ChatGPT. Seriously, get off your high horse and try being real. EDIT: try being a little less nasty, thanks.

He's going to be incredible IMO. Those K's will go up.

Here's some real for you - what you said in response to Big Klu was one of the most obnoxious posts I've seen in 24 years on this board.

Re: Terry Francona is the Reds' new manager

For anyone who thinks Francona rides his team with a heavy hand, I've got some chicken and beer that says otherwise. FWIW, at the time when all of that went down in Boston, I thought way too much was being made of it, but Francona was replaced in both Philly and Boston by lunatic screamy guys because they were a supposed change from Francona's player's manager style.

This is a joke right? BigKlu and WOY have been two of the consistently best, most well-informed posters on this board for 20+ years. You seem to have a lot of conflict with a lot of posters. The common denominator might just be you.

And you are right, we don't know you, but your posts reflect on you as a miserable and not too well-informed poster. Maybe it's just your wording, but that's how you come off to me. For that reason I have you on ignore, but when others quote you, I can see your posts and they don't support your position here.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Yep, my ignore list just got a much-deserved update.

Back to Tito. Previous posts asked what of his former guys could we lure here. How about Carlos Santana? Could allow CES to start in AAA.

Santana could be that "veteran" guy that some want to bring in, a la Scott Rolen.

But I'd kind of lean towards keeping Steer there instead of exposing to LF more.

Then again, Steer would be a good utility guy as he didn't hit enough this year for 1B.

I think he stays in left field unless the Reds bring in someone that’s bonafide to be better. Steer is a solid piece to keep around. If they do bring in someone bonafide better, he could be a valuable trade chip too.
