One of the biggest reasons I wanted Terry Francona from the beginning was his ability to win on a team that spent even less than the Reds.

I'd say, since Benson was part of the Cleveland system and traded away while Francona was there, this is either a dream come true for him, or his worst nightmare.

So, I guess this shuts the door on getting Trevor Bauer, eh?

IMO, anyone who thinks this line (especially the coaches) ... .187 .274 .376 .650 deserves or has earned a spot on Tito's bench has me seriously shaking my head at their seriousness of chasing the post-season.

We can do better. We have to do better.

If Krall makes the trades what does the GM do?

On a team where there's a President of Baseball Operations set up, the GM is essentially the same as an Assistant GM in the old set up.

Operations is the GM of the past, he is essentially the final decision maker. The GM of today manages the day to day operations and interfaces with other key staff (Clubhouse/Manager/Agents/ML Lead/Krall) all decisions are not made by Krall as far as how the feet on the ground actions are concerned, if it is big it bubbles up.

MLB is essentially a large corporate structure industry now, with lots of divisions of responsibility and titles that sound made up, but it's all real and it is not going away. The path forward is not a lot like the past, but the nomenclature persists

Tito gave Myles Straw 1382 PAs .240/.308/.302, this year he got four and was cut.

The game has a LOT of these numbers these days, the Reds will continue to have them, even the 1970 BRM carried Tommy Helms (607 PAs .237/.262/.282) I expect to see some guys with Bensons numbers, but if that occurs then I want less K's and better fielding as a trade-off

I suspect Will knows following last season that he won't be tendered a contract. That doesn't mean he necessarily won't be back, but he knows the drill.

He'll be tendered, he's not arb eligible until 2026, he has little trade value this off season so I expect he will be in Arizona in ST, but I certainly don't think he's earmarked for the roster right now. It was painful to watch him consistently fail this year only to have the commercial break feature him talking about his approach and success, way to go Bally's Broadcasting (freaking amateur's)

He's not arb eligible, he's under team control and has options and is being paid the league minimum if he's on the 26 man roster. They aren't just going to release him when they can send him to AAA if he doesn't make the major league roster.

Yep, though he was a gold glove CF, though, so it doesn't apply specifically to Benson's case.

The Reds as late have played a whole lot of week bats who also happen to be poor defenders in the corners. I would love to see a some realignment and acquisitions that resulted at least in defensive and baserunning contributions from the weak bats that you have to inevitability swallow and good offensive from the weak gloves you have to hide somewhere. No more 0-way players.

Straw won a gold glove in CF in 2022. What does playing a GG CF have to do with playing a mediocre defensive corner OF who can't hit?
