Cubs about to throw a nice wrinkle into the OF trade market.

Are they going to trade Suzuki AND Bellinger?

I think Stewart or Arroyo + Petty and Duno is quite fair. I would rather trade Duno. The chances of Duno never making the majors is way higher than him becoming a solid major leaguer. And again, I like Duno. Dude is FAR away, though.

Sounds like they're about to trade for Tucker

The Reds probably can't afford either one, but maybe some team who gets one of them will free up an OF who would be an improvement in Cincinnati.

I'd love to have either one of them. Maybe if the Cubs would take Pagan back as part of the package. Other than reducing payroll, what are the Cubs looking for in a deal for Suzuki? Pitching? Prospects? When I look at their roster, bullpen looks like their biggest need. Maybe Pagan for Bellinger and the Cubs getting Salary relief would be a start to a deal. The Reds would obviously need to toss in a prospect or 3.

How about Pagan, Steer and Ashcraft for Suzuki? Steer could DH, they add Ashcraft and Pagan to their pen and save $11 Million. Reds line-up in the OF with Suzuki LF, Freidl CF, Fraley/Fairchild in RF. Defense would be a lot better. Offense too of course.

One of the Reds 6 starters would need to become a reliever.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

White Sox Chris Getz will tell Krall what it will take. If not, then there won’t be a deal. Getz can hold out.

Right and that’s why I expect no deal.

Chisox trading Robert now isn’t a must. They can walk away until the deadline. They’ll drive a hard bargain.

Reds should refuse unless and until White Sox get real. Some of these proposals are way too much return for Robert IMO.

I would love to see Suzuki in this lineup. It’s a bit of a financial commitment but he’s a consistent bat, something this team needs desperately. I’d gladly trade Steer for that.

Tucker is a one-year player. If Cubs trade for him they will extend him.

That’s a move to upgrade your outfield. If it happens.

He is going to cost $400MM or more to extend. But yes, nice move if the Cubs pull the trigger

If they are giving up Paredes and one of Bellinger/Suzuki plus prospects, they better be hell bent on an extension.

Not a foregone conclusion he will extend, sounds like he wants to test FA. That is likely why the Astros are trading him.

    Re: Outfield trade targets

The Soto situation will help temper the return. But 1 year of Tucker at a discount plus the QO compensation is what’s guaranteed. Plus they get a leg up on the competition in FA.
