Catcher, OF &/or bullpen arm if they take anyone.

    (C) Liam Hicks (LH) Tigers (if he makes it to 9)?

The Reds have 37 players on their 40 Man Roster. The Reds have enough room to select 3 Players from the Major League portion of the Rule 5 draft should they choose to do so.

The Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft is complete. The players selected must remain on the Major League Roster for the season. The AAA or Minor League Portion of the Rule 5 Draft will not require the Team to keep on a Major league roster and may be assigned to any level minor league level.

Seems like a solid pick to compete for a bench spot. Just reading the scouting reports Bowman plays CF and 2B pretty well. Legitimate thread on the bases as well. If the bat is there at all he has some value at the end of the roster. Not a huge sample size, but the AAA numbers leave a lot to be desired though.

Looks like he can run and play a number of positions fairly well. His best path to playing time right now would seem to be as a CF vs. lefties if the Reds don’t do anything else to bolster that position…

If he has a good spring, he’s probably a Fairchild-seeking missle; if not he can be thrown back…

    Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 40 | Run: 65 | Arm: 50 | Field: 50 | Overall: 40

A transfer to Louisville after two seasons at Iowa Western CC helped Bowman raise his amateur stock in time for the 2021 Draft, when the Yankees selected him in the fourth round. He joined the A’s midway through the 2022 season as part of the return package from New York for Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino. After settling in with the new organization, he seemed to take off in 2023 at Double-A Midland, hitting .262/.358/.435 with eight homers, 17 doubles and 38 RBIs in 68 games.

Bowman’s short right-handed swing helps him make plenty of contact. He did lower his strikeout rate last year, though it came in a shortened season due to injuries. He has worked on launching the ball more consistently, but his power remains a fringe average tool at best.

Bowman is a quick-twitch athlete who can really run, which also helps him cover a lot of ground in the field. He plays good defense at second base and will likely get more of a look in the outfield this season to add some versatility. The A’s admire his toughness but staying on the field is starting to become a concern as he dealt with elbow, shoulder and hamstring issues throughout last season. Keeping him healthy will be a big focus in 2024 as he looks to continue progressing through the system.

Does that mean Acuna is safe? Or is he eligible for the other draft?
