Fangraphs has Cam Collier on the list but I believe they are wrong.
He signed at 17 which means he don’t have to be protected till after 5 years.
He signed in 2022 so I’m thinking he’s good till 2027. Sorry about that. I should have bought it.

Yerlin Confidan could play himself into consideration.

A lot, of course, depends on what they do this year in AA and AAA. The only guys I feel are sure things are Top 100 prospects Chase Petty and Edwin Arroyo.

Balcazar could be a first-division starter prospect or (more likely) a utility glove with hit tool questions.

Jorge and Rodriguez could be fifth OF if they continue to refuse to take a walk. They'll need to show plus hit tools or an 8% BB rate. (In Jorge's case, that 30% K rate is going to have to drop too.)

Acuna could get hurt or blow up in AAA. Most likely, he's a BOR guy who can put up a bunch of innings, but is short on stuff. That still has value, but he's going to have to prove it in Louisville before he's protected.

Maxwell might struggle too much to find the strike zone. I suspect he'll be given a shot just to see what happens. Ditto Moore. They'll both have to show out to be kept.

Too, I suspect the logjam of AAA OF (Hurtubise, Dunn, Hinds, Benson) will all either be members of the major league club or gone by the end of this season. That's three spots, at least, and likely four. Legumina will likely be gone. Other relievers are as well.

This type of issue almost always sorts itself out.

(That said, next off-season is going to be harder, I think.)

Some of those guys will be traded before the time comes to put them on the 40 IMO.

I agree with most of your assessments on guys at the moment. My list is really anticipating who will need to be added as Ive got optimism on a few of them like Balcazar and Jorge.

I think Acuna will be in the pen by end of year and a MLB ready contributor.

Re: Players needing protected next off season

    Let’s try this again

Just looking at players the Reds may have to add to the 40 man roster, next off season. Either to protect them from the Rule 5 draft or players that can become minor league free agents. There are a lot. Who would you protect? Going to have to make some trades. either some of these guys or others on the 40 man roster. When I originally made this post, I just listed players i thought we could possibly add but went back and added everyone. Cam Collier was on Fangraphs list but I don’t believe he will be Rule 5 eligible. He may not be the only one they had wrong.

Only position players i see with a good chance of being added are Arroyo, Balcazar, Jorge, Rodrigues and Allen. It’s always possible someone like Callihan, Nelson or Trautwein can play their way on to the 40 man roster like Tyler Callahan did this year .

Pitchers are a lot more difficult to guess. Petty and Maxwell are the only sure things. there are a lot of pitchers i really like tho. will probably depend on how they play next season. Cardona, Acuna, Rivera, Lorant and Franco. Anyer Laureano and Andrew Moore are a couple of other relievers I could see added

Re: Players needing protected next off season

There are several on this list that I don’t think will be in the Reds system by the time next season starts. Honestly, this list is so long, it makes me wonder if I’m right. I believe I am. I think COVID is a big reason this list is so long. Without the missed season I believe some of these players would have already weeded themselves out
