How many teams have yet to be shutout this year? I know the Reds are one. It would be nice to see them go on a streak like they did from 1999-2001.

Coffey is only keeping things warm for Webber when he comes back.

That alone drops the Reds Suckitude a couple of points.

True, but the Suckometer still records very high levels of sucking, especially when pointed towards Milton and Wilson.

Overall though, suckitudinally speaking, you are correct, sir.

Coffey is doing what most young pitchers do when they get to the bigs: taking his lumps and figuring things out. His first few appearences were beyond awful as he realized that there's a big difference between the best hitters in AAA and the worst hitters in the show.

His velocity seems to be coming back, and he's routinely hitting 93-94 on the gun with his fastball now.

I think they're doing the right thing with Coffey: using him in these late-inning mop up situations when the game is out of hand in one direction or the other. Building his confidence and giving him experience in dealing with major league hitters. They're putting him in a position to be successful, something this franchise has been awful at in recent memory.

I'd take Coffey over Weber any day of the week.

Totally agree ....... but i figured if RA was allowed to come back (bench player or not) then DO is going to let Webber do that also.

They are already carrying too many pitchers to begin with......i think either TC or Stone goes down when Pena comes back.

I looked it up just now. The Reds and Red Sox are the only teams in the majors that have NOT been shutout this season.

Shutouts don't often happen to good (great?) offenses.

Harang learned to pitch in the Oakland org. He is pitching the same way now that he did when he first came over, theory wise. I noticed from the first time watching him that he knew how to pitch, just didn't have enough consistency with his stuff. So, I'd only go as far as saying Gullett hasn't screwed him up.
