Re: Dunn batting 2nd? --Game thread in the form of a question

Well, Narron did say in one of his first interviews with Marty that he may put Dunn at 2nd and move Casey down. Glad to see that he wasn't just blowing smoke and that he is willing to make a switch. Let's see how the rest of the lineup shakes out and if it gets the Redszone stamp of approval. I think particularly with Freel out that the 2 hole makes the most sense for Dunn. I would prefer generally, however that Dunn hit in the 3 hole with griffey behind him. Here is what I think we'll see:

    Griffey plays:

    Lopez ss
    Dunn lf
    Randa 3b
    Griffey cf
    Casey 1b
    Pena rf
    Aurilia 2b
    Catcher
    Pitcher

    No Griffey:

    Lopez ss
    Dunn lf
    Randa 3b
    Pena rf
    Casey 1b
    Aurilia 2b
    Catcher
    Romano cf
    Pitcher

My lineup (with dunn 2nd, casey 5th)

    Lopez ss
    Dunn lf
    Griffey cf
    Pena rf
    Casey 1b
    Randa 3b
    Aurilia 2b
    Catcher
    Pitcher

    shhhhh

    id say
    FLO
    Dunn
    Griffey
    Randa
    Casey
    Pena
    LaRue
    Olmedo

No way aurilia got dropped to 7 or 8th. hes got to be out of the line up... he'd complain to much if he was in there.

Normally, this is where I guarantee a Reds victory (because it is my birthday today and the Reds always win on my birthday - you can look it up).

However, since Eric Milton is scheduled to be the starter tonight, I just can't do it.

    Oh... what the heck.

I GUARANTEE THE REDS WILL WIN TONIGHT!!!

(And yes my prices are insane!)

Now all they need to do is surgically switch the arms of Milton and Ortiz with Koufax and Drysdale.

Wouldn't it make more sense to flip Pena and Aurilia? That way, you would have a threat to go deep behind Casey, so he will see better pitches. And then there is Aurilia behind Pena instead of Valentin. Also splits up the more strikeout prone Pena and Valentin. The only arguement for Aurilia in front of Pena is that he strikes out less. It just seems boneheaded to me.

Strikes out less, gets better pitches, and hopefully increases the slightest of chances he gets moved at the deadline?
