Hall, I sould like to give him the rest of the year to be successful, no matter what. I wouldn't even want to see a promotion to AAA. Next year he can sink or swim in the bigs. Kelly, OTOH, strikes me as a pitcher who has a track record of success, and would seem to gain the most and lose the least by a promotion. If Hudson had options, Kelly would be up and Luke sent down. But since he doesn't, we shall see neither.

But Casey has to be hurt, cuz this seems awfully familiar.
If he's hurt, then he got hurt mid-season last year.

Marty just said that Casey is possibly the most un-productive regular first baseman in the league.

So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Another weak ground ball from Sean Casey. His GB/FB ratio is almost an even 2 right now, whereas last year it was closer to 1.3.

He is not elevating pitches because he is being pitched to induce grounders, and he continues to help opposing pitchers by swinging at bad balls.

When the Reds traded for Casey, years like 99 or 04 I thought would be normal years for him, with some years Casey hitting something like 340 30 homers and 120RBI type years. He never has lived up to that potential I thought he had. But not many of the 97-99 group traded for/drafted have.

Casey hits a Casey but is saved from being a CASEY by the fact that there were two outs already.

Casey saves the Casey for later.

I'm not sure. Kelly started out the year great, but in his last 8 starts he has this line
    Code:
App IP	TBF	H	ER	HR	SO	BB
    GS 6.7	31	11	5	1	6	1
    GS 4.0	21	9	6	1	2	1
    GS 8.0	29	6	1	0	4	2
    GS 5.3	26	9	6	0	3	2
    GS 6.0	24	5	1	1	3	2
    GS 5.7	25	5	5	1	0	3
    GS 3.3	21	8	8	0	3	2
    GS 4.0	16	3	1	0	4	2
    Total 43.0	193	56	33	4	25	15
    Total Seaon	97.0	408	94	44	7	61	34
Also his Fielding Independent Pitching and K/9 aren't particularly great.

    Code:
    Pitcher IP	ERA	HR/9	K/9	BB/9	K/BB	FIP	GO/FO
    Elizardo Ramirez	55.3	3.09	0.98	6.02	1.46	4.11	3.81	1.84
    Steve Kelly 97.0	4.08	0.65	5.66	3.15	1.79	4.02	1.42

He had a nice May... but June was atrocious. just seems familiar. During his strength rebuilding season of 2003 he had numbers like this some solid BA months, giving him decent OB numbers, and no power. Very similar to 2003 thus far.
