A lot led to this. The DFA's of Graves and Jiminez which ultimately led to the Randa trade and EdE coming on. The acquisitions of Shackelford and Standridge who have pitched well. Griffey got hot and Harang and Claussen continue to show improvement. Lopez has been red hot.Originally Posted by kyred14
Folks, with some improvements in pitching and without the certain dramatics of Graves in the closer role, this team has, if not mediocre, been pretty good the last 45 days. It gives one optimism for the future iF adequate moves are made in the off season. Those moves do not include trading Dunn, Griffey or Kearns.

Reds = best young left side IF in beisbol?
(Met's 3b isn't too shabby)
Never overlook the obvious
OK, I looked this up. We were right, and wrong about Dravecky. As someone mentioned, he missed most of 1988 after being diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left arm. In the second game of his comeback in 1989, he snapped his left arm while pitching. He then broke it again during the Giants' NLCS victory celebration.Originally Posted by Big Klu

What has Kearns done to deserve special merit?
And I can remember Dravecky coming back in his first game against the Reds and just dominating us only to do damage to his arm in the next game.Originally Posted by Big Klu

Point well taken, but his statistics since being brought back are quite good and they will get better.Originally Posted by Scrap Irony

Saunders tried to make it back with the O's in ST of this year. Rotoworld has a blurb in March about him reporting to AA Bowie, but I can't find any stats for him whatsoever in that league.
Dravecky eventually had his left arm amputated in 1991.Originally Posted by WVRedsFan

I'm now 1 - 2 when starting game threads. 1 - 0 when starting game threads on Reds Live. Wooohooo.
Speaking of Adam (okay, so no one was), I had a dream last night that I was speaking to some high school graduating class (hey, beats me??) and so was Adam. I was talking to him before we spoke and he told he had just bought a farm in Finland.
And I wasn't even drinking last night before I went to bed.
Will trade this space for a #1 starter.
