Good grief Casey, pay attention! No excuse for you to get picked off.

how does Casey get picked off?
Kearns goes from a patient hitter to an impatient hitter overnight.

Casey picked off 1st

Was Sean too busy chatting up Overbay to notice the pick-off?
Did anyone see him on TV? Was he yacking with the opposing 1b?Originally Posted by flyer85
I swear, Casey has his head up his rear at times. No excuse for him to be picked off. He's never going to steal, he should only take a safe lead.

Ummm
there a number of Reds hitters who have gotten themselves out on pitchers pitches with no strikes. if there had been more patience this game would be out of reachOriginally Posted by Falls City Beer
sean took his lead without keeping his eye on the pitcher.
Now, there's a good one from Marty .. "This may be the ugliest quality start I've ever seen"

Oh, I agree on the concept of getting a little power from a middle infielder at the bottom of the order.Originally Posted by REDREAD
That being said, Aurilia's days of being an effective middle infielder are long gone. Play him enough and his deficiencies (both defensive and offensive) get exposed.
Of course, he still thinks he's a starter and his behavior negates any intangible value he has to the club because he won't let go of that concept.
He needs to go yesterday.

I'll trade a little power for a fast guy who gets on base who can field and do other things at that position. Back in the 60's the world fell in love with the good field SS who could hit 15 HR's, most couldn't get on base to save their lives. That's your Reds and Giants SS in the 60's. Getting on base is more important than almost anything. 310 PA's for Aurilia this season, if I just had that fact about the Reds at this point in the season and nothing else, I would bet that they were under .500.Originally Posted by REDREAD
Nah, all season Kearns game has shifted from patience to overanxiousness. The kid needs a change of scenery or his game may have taken that final turn into the abyss.Originally Posted by flyer85

5 hits and 3 runs. I'll take it. But 100 pitches, 5 BB's, thru 6 ain't too hot though.Originally Posted by REDREAD
