I agree that he has been handled terribly. I'm sure he's counting down the days until he's out of here.

Don't agree. O'brien future is cloudy, as well as the ownership structure for next season. Basically, the extra baggage where the Reds had a viable young replacement, 3rd base was traded and Aurilia. That was it.

The time for winning THIS year is over due to the awfull start, but NEXT year is just around the corner. If you fail once, try yet again. With the clouds lifted during the fall, all will become clear.

How do we know the clouds will be lifted?

And do we know that the Reds know what they're doing if they don't lift?

    Hyperbole Alert!!!

1 every 8 prior to this year 1 every 9 prior to the demotion and 1 every 11.4 since he came back. Kearns 23 BB this year is 48% of WMP career totals

and what is abundantly clear is the pitching this team has is woefully inadequate in being able to compete. A few good weeks is nothing but a mirage. The question is will the FO be dumb enough to buy in.

Actually, the Reds could be competitive next year IF they trade a young OF for a Cliff Lee, sign or trade for a good starting pitcher, and have Harang and Clausen continue to progress.

It's a tall order, but there's still a little time to put together an AVERAGE pitching staff to go with this offense. Average pitching would put them in wild card contention (or close to it.. good enough to make the team very exciting).

Probably. But with the ownership situation, things are on hold. They could unload the vets during the winter, or they could keep them and use the depth in the outfield to fill holes. May they tred water? They could. But I think something moves one way or another.

Actually, why the Reds pitching is a mirage now, so was the historically awfull period during the spring. They are just bad.

Why do the Reds need a Cliff Lee?

I thought you meant "Carlos" Lee.

    nevermind.
