After the REDS bullpen posted a 7-0 record in July, they have not won a game in August entering tonight (0-3). 27 games since the last win... July 27 @ Dodgers (Standridge).
Also, Lloyd used about 15 relievers in this game before going to Mesa. He managed like it was the 7th game of the World Series. So he probably has no pen left.

Why is it that despite Kent Mercker's decent numbers this season I never feel confindent with him in the ballgame?

Enough of the Merker lovefest. The guy has been awfull lately, along with Standridge.
I would have thought the same thing, but with the way he called the earlier home run by the Pirates and the way he seems to in love with Mesa, I just thought differently about the "OH NO" comment.
