It was a concussion-level blow that Casey took. Cota obviously feels horrible and was just trying to get out of the way. Casey's rolled over on his back now and is pointing to his cheek. The cart is on it's way out to get him.

No way. Cota was simply trying to balance himself to get out of the way of Casey's tag. Cota swung his left arm up and just nailed Casey in the face. It was a complete accident and Cota appeared visibly shaken and is STILL hanging around the Reds and Casey on the field (Cota is the only Pirate out there).

Their putting Casey on a board and imobilizing his head and neck. Hopefully it's just as a precaution.

I think Steve is trying not to be graphic.

Coda is there too, so he's concerned but I don't know about intentional. Anyone who's watching it, can you tell us what it looked like.

    OMG, this is aweful!!

They're now fitting Casey onto the stretcher and securing his head and limbs to it (only precautionary I'm sure). The Pirates doctor is now out there. Casey just waved to the crowd while being carried to the cart. He appears alert and if he did lose consciousness it was only for a moment or two after the hit.

Cota with an intentional elbow? I dont think so. This isn't Alex "slappy" Rodriguez we're talking about here..

This doesn't sound good. Get well soon Casey. I wonder if the injury will require a dl stint.
