Once, again... I'm not pleased with Extra Innings.... I don't think I got to hear anything about the Reds for 30-40 mins on tonights show....

So, Does anyone here have Tracey Jones email? I looked at 700wlw.com and couldn't find it...

Speaking of Extra Innings...Are the Reds really considering putting slot machines at the ballpark? I missed the majority of the conversation between the idiot (Tracy Jones who is for slot machines at the stadium) and a caller.

Last year of Riverfront Stadium I went to my 1st Reds game. It was the Reds vs. Athletics. Reds got killed and besides Casey's 3 run homer couldn't touch Zito, but that isn't the story.

After the stadium we go over to Convington's landing and they have the show on there. I go up there and ask a question (remember I am only 16 now, so I was probably 13 then I want to say). That was when Aaron Boone was batting 2nd, but he was hitting like .200 and this game was like in June. I ask why Aaron Boone is 2nd and I think Ray Knight was the one answering the questions. I got a standing ovation from the crowd. Ray ended up saying he thought it was because B. Boone maybe thought if he got A. Boone more at bats maybe he would hit his way out of a slump. As I walked by to my table I got another standing ovation from the crowd.

I know that was completely off topic, but I had to share that story.

Actually they are doing it from Gameday Sports Cafe now since Applebees is no longer with us. Funny thing happened last year when Extra Innings at Gameday was invaded by RedsZone.

That was a Furman topic one night. I don't know if he originated the idea or picked it up from someone else. My threshhold for Furman is the amount of time it takes me to get from home to the Pony Keg and back.

I hate it when he says that. I played the game in high school, legion ball, and some college, although it isn't the majors. I know baseball is a bit different on each level, but baseball is still baseball. Most of the rules are the same (the basics are the same).

I listened to it for like 5-10 minutes during a late night trip to Kroger. I heard Tracy bragging about being a "career .273 hitter" and how he wanted the Reds to bean someone or something. Once he starts bragging on himself I start either laughing or rolling my eyes and can't drive safely so he gets turned off.

Everyone knows Extra Innings is about two things:

1) The Reds

2) me

That's from Tracy Jones after getting too many calls about a caller from Indian Hill who's become a bit of a regular in calling in and complaining about "low-class" people at Reds games. I know I am likely in the minority, but I think his schtick is hilarious, personally. I definitely think there are some problems with his show and can see how he gets under some people's skins after a while of it, but he's like a caricature, really. I don't like when he spends 45-60 minutes talking about panhandlers and doesn't take many calls, but a lot of what he does seems to be a character to me.

Why would people wanting to listen to Reds talk want a "character"? What the hell kind of lame programming is that? Why must WLW continue to cater to the lowest common denominator, something it has done since I was about 9 years old and continues right to the present now that I am 35 and long since moved away?

XM's picking up WLW as a dedicated station has meant I have been able to listen to WLW with fresh ears after about 10 years of only infrequent listens, and it is horrible. But the worst of the worst is Tracy Jones and the EI show. It's not even close. He is soul suckingly bad. A joke.
