WHY do you take Kearns out!?

Just curious, but what are Kearns' numbers against Carpenter? That could explain why.Originally Posted by cincyinco

Carpenter vs. Milton = no chance.
That said, the Reds have often done very well in games like this.
Milty can fall off at any time, but color me as optimistic about him as I've been in 13 months if he throws out a quality start tonight. His location and velocity have been much better all year, with 1.5 game exception. His era minus that blowup start is well under three. I'm optimistic, but realize he's a bottle of nitro out there at all times.
By the way, Jason LaRue? Let's hope a trade is announced soon.

Freel's had better success against Carpenter than Kearns. Dunn hasn't done much against the guy either, but he hits from the left side.Originally Posted by cincyinco

I don't get why you sit EE yesterday, but you play him today.
Seems to me you would want a "vet" like Rich in against a guy liek Carpenter. EE would have hammered aroudn Suppan yesterday. I'm not complaining that EE is in today (he should always play over RA) but if you were going to sit him in this series today would have been today.
Okay, makes sense.. but you're talking about a 6ab sample size, are you not? in regards to kearns vs. carpenter.

I think you'd prefer Donnie Sadler over Kearns wouldn't you?Originally Posted by Falls City Beer

Carpenter pretty much owns the Reds. Dunn is 2 for 17 against him. I hope he reverses that tonight.
School's out. What did you expect?
Nah. Kearns is a junkball mistake-pitch hitter (Carpenter doesn't throw many of these); and Freel can turn high choppers into basehits.Originally Posted by VR
Using Freel optimizes the lineup IMO. Realistically, though, both Kearns and Freel should be in the lineup every day no matter what.
