Re: If you could start from scratch...

    SP Roy Oswalt
    SP Ben Sheets
    SP Mark Buerhle
    - Two aces and a very good #2 is great start to a rotation.

    LF Adam Dunn
    SS Johnny Peralta
    3B Edwin Encarnacion

I'd think I'd target Jorge Cantu with one of my next few picks. There aren't many good 2Bs in the MLB (Utley, Soriano, Giles are gone already).

Another idea could be to get Kevin Youkilis, and have him be your lead off hitter. Or maybe grab Nick Swisher.

Not many Catchers available either outside of Mauer, Victor Martinez, and Pudge. I'd probably just use picks real late in the draft, maybe pick up a defensive catcher or something.

Youkillis, Cantu, a closer (Zumaya?), RF with some pop, speedy CF, some bullpen arms, a 4th starter, defensive catcher, and a 5th starter.

    ... sorry i'm bored lol

    Curtis Granderson (CF)
    Russ Martin (C)
    Dan Uggla (2B)

all come to mind as players that deserved to be picked in this format.

I really hope Granderson comes to me. I'm 7 picks away. Also looking at Cantu and Cano at 2nd.Prolly one of those three. Then a pitcher like Penny,Colon,Vazquez,Lowry or McCarthy with the immediate next pick.

Martin isn't carded yet, we are using 2005 to start.

I'm having buyers remorse about Peralta. I now wish I'd went with Rollins, Furcal or Crosby. Oh well.

Cano was picked in the 4th round by Pottsville Yuenglings. I don't know about Cantu. He did have a good 2005, but going forward, I'm not sure he's your best bet.

Is Scott Olsen (Marlins) picked yet? He pitched some in 2005 and would be a good #3 starter going forward for you.

    Nevermind. He's taken.

If you are using 2005 stats, Hideki Matsui would make a nice pickup. He should be good going foward year to year as well.

Matsui, Granderson and Dunn would be a good OF, IMO.

Josh Barfield (2B), Padres is another player that you should look into down the line.

Ended up taking granderson and Javy Vazquez. Not bad for a 4th starter. Wish the Reds were as fortunate.

Wow. Ervin Santana fell quite a bit from where I expected. That was a real good pickup in the 8th round.

Re: If you could start from scratch...

I'd try to grab a closer here soon. Bobby Jenks and Huston Street are still available. Great young closers are nice to have.

For your last OF spot, i'd go for Chone Figgins, or possibley Wily Taveras. Lyle Overbay at first, Jorge Cantu at second, and Yadier Molina or Jason Kendall at catcher.

As for the bullpen, I'd definitely go for Joel Zumaya, Juan Rincon, or Fernando Rodney. And for a 5th starter, maybe go with someone like Carlos Silva.

Jenks, Overbay, Cantu, Figgins, Zumaya, Rincon, Rodney, Molina, Silva

    And you're set.

    RF Figgins
    3B Encarnacion
    LF Dunn
    1B Overbay
    SS Peralta
    2B Cantu
    CF Curtis Granderson
    C Molina

    Oswalt
    Sheets
    Buerhle
    Vazquez
    Silva

    CL Jenks
    RP Zumaya
    RP Rincon
    RP Rodney

Pretty good team if you could get those players.

Re: If you could start from scratch...

Cantu is atrocious defensively,he's a no go for me. Those other guys could definately find their way to Quahog

There has been a small run on closers here with Wagner,Ryan and Rivera going last round. I figured that would happen. I value good starters over closers and relievers. I'll find someone to "close", I'm not worried about that at all. I want my fifth starter before I dive in the reliever pool. After the top 5 guys or so most relievers look the same to me.

This is a 40 round draft with 20 teams. Plenty of selections left..
