Boss asked you to stop. I asked you to stop and so have multiple other posters. It has nothing to do with rules and appropriateness. It has everything to do with common courtesy.
I hate to beat a dead horse and, I didn't even know who the heck "Seabass" was until about a week ago but, I will need to have some explanation as to why "the majority of the board" has complained about this nickname. Would the "majority of the board" complain about my usage of the nickname "Emporer Penguin" for Chad Moeller?

The crux of this argument appears to be either semantics or some sort of back-door Nazi-ism. Either way, it's just ridiculously stupid and frustrating. I love this site and I just want to be able to post here and not worry about offending everyone or violating some draconian or secret rule. We ought to be having fun - despite the general bitterness from which the average Cincy sports fan suffers.

For what it's worth, I made a rookie mistake by masking a curse word. It was handled with what is obviously within reason of the board guidelines. Noted. I questioned it once, as anybody with backbone who doesn't necessarily agree to something would. That was the end of it. Issue was dropped, and I didn't carry it any further. In fact, I'm pretty sure well over 100 posts went by without it being mentioned at all until I saw something that IMO is just as taboo as masking a curse word. I was told to take it up with Boss, I did, I got a response, and once again, the matter was dropped. So then upon hearing somebody got the boards version of a scolding for using the word "Seabass", i questioned it again. Am I wrong for having an opinion? Was what I said inflamatory? Hardly. And until I had a condescending post aimed in my direction, once again, matter would have been over.

and with that, I also am finished 100% with the topic.

Just thought I'd weigh in, for what it's worth, for those wondering about the origination of "Seabass" as a nickname for Alex Gonzalez. The story as I know it, is Kevin Millar originated it because Alex always had the same facial expression on his face, regardless of the situation of the game; up 1-0, down 1-0, up 11-0, down 11-0. He always looked the same and had the same stoic expression, and I guess Millar said he looked like a seabass. That's where that came from.

Wow..that thread went in the toilet.

Frustrating game to be sure. The curse of Bill Hall continues to trail us around. As Coffey slowly unraveled I thought to myself that this had grand salami writted all over it.

I said it before: Where the heck was Dick Pole or Jerry Narron to walk out to the mound after Fielder was hit to talk to Coffey? It might have calmed the obviously struggling pitcher down a bit. Perhaps the outcome would have been the same, but sitting there watching your tallented young pitcher self distruct without going to to impart some sort of wisdom, or at the very least give Todd a chance to collect himself, was a major mistake.

Don't want to get in on this, but just a bit of snooping about on Google for the meaning of seabass as a slang or nickname you come up with some very interesting references... Noting some of the thing Millar has done and said in the past you can use you imagination as to what he meant... I have heard the term used before as a slang and it was always derogatory...
    Urban Dictionary's definition http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sea+bass

    With the last entry being.....
In very basic terms it is feces

    another entry is
someone who is always out of the loop, and never knows what's really going on.

I would think more people might know the name from Dumb and Dumber....

Either way, I think it's a nickname we should let die.

That's one thing that has bothered me about Narron... He doesn't seem to want to address his pitchers in a game situation... Either the slow hook, or not visiting the mound to give them a breather.... I don't get it.

The BP is another issue, but I did like what I saw from Couter, even though he gave up a couple hits and a run as well.
Right, but he's a power pitcher that threw maybe one pitch at 90 mph...

    He's living on borrowed time.

"Dumb and Dumber" is almost assuredly where Millar got the name from. He's big on movie references (e.g. "cowboy up").

I thought Cowboy Up was Jason LaRue.....(or is it Larue?)
