If only Jerry had replaced Junior or Dunn with Dewayne Wise. The lineup would have been near perfect.

Don't give him any ideas he still has 3 hours to make this worse. Junior has an .800 average (8 for 10) against Rodriquez. I am amazed he is in the lineup.

How can he even think about shaking up the lineup after those two badly needed wins?

At least Gonzalez is on one of his offensive "hot streaks". Here are his numbers over the last 7 games:

    .379 | .419 | .793

Additionally Edwin is hitting better in the last week and showing signs of being the run producer a lot of us expected (7 RBI in past 7 games). Narron should have moved him to 4 and Conine to 6.

Pickin on Jerry again, everyone? Well, Conine's OBP right now is 103 points higher than EEs. EE's hitting has picked up since AAA, but the difference between him and Conine at cleanup is hardly monumental. EE still is a .658 OPS man.

Phillips had a rough night last night, two strikeouts (folks, those are not good), an error, no hits. Understand the respite. Hope no injury there.

Castro's .160 average is about 70 points below his lifetime mark, which is .231 (that's above the Mendoza line). At some point he will have a couple of good offensive games.

All this will be irrelevant if Harang comes through (or if the opposite happens).

The triple switch in the 9th made no sense - looked like he did it just to amuse himself and this lineup makes me cringe...and it's not in fear

Griffey is 8-10 against Wandy! I hope that trend continues.

    Catchers bat 8th.

Nothing else matters to Narron as long as he gets to write the ole number 2 in the 8 hole. Juan Castro in the lineup, he of the sub .400 OPS (thats right, his OBP plus his slugging is around .400 or 94 points beow Bonds OBP or 130+ below Dunn's slugging) and he hits above Ross, well, because catchers bat 8th.

This from the Astros series preview thread:

    Wandy Rodriguez (LH)
    Stature: 5-11, 160lbs; DOB: 01/18/79
Question: what do you do with a pitcher who has below average velocity and poor command? Answer: If he’s left-handed, and you’re the Astros, you make him a starter (do they really have any left-handed arm in their system that others would covet?). Clearly “working on some things” as he goes, Rodriguez has groundball tendencies while featuring a power curve that is effective against both lefties and righties, a below average fastball (purportedly he can max a four seemer at 91mph on occasion) and an undistinguished changeup. Wandy appears to be turning a corner in ’07. Only time will tell if his pitchability has improved of if he’s due to regress to the mean (where he’s resembled something close to a tee in his young career).
Wandy has only had 3 bad outings all season (including his last one). That being said, when he's been bad, it's been bad bad. Harang on the other hand has been better than his ERA. I dunno, it could be a pitchers duel, a high scoring game or some where in the middle with the score being close or a blowout.

    Go Good Guys!

I would prefer the following order:

    Hopper cf
    Phillips 2b
    Griffey rf
    Dunn lf
    Encarnacion 3b
    Conine 1b
    Gonzalez ss
    Ross c
    Harang p

Or, if Phillips must sit (maybe he has flu-like symptoms):

    Hopper cf
    Gonzalez ss
    Griffey rf
    Dunn lf
    Encarnacion 3b
    Conine 1b
    Ross c
    Castro 2b
    Harang p

(If I keep reciting a better starting lineup long enough, maybe it will happen!)

Griffey and Dunn MUST be broken up - lefty and lefty against a lefty? Sinful!
