5 of the 6 pitchers allowed a homer. Only Burton did not give up a home run.

Unbelievable. Alls well that ends well, i suppose. I was out most of the night and just caught the last inning. Nice time to watch.

Reds have outscored this putrid Pirate team 22-12. Doubled them up so far. There are worse teams than the Reds.

I can't believe we didn't pull Dunn in late innings for his defense tonight.

    What were we thinking?

Heh. Wayne may not be the only one "learning on the job."

I imagine there is a little more incentive to win these games with the Buccos since he wanted that job too.

Dunn is still the best player on this team.

I can't believe nobody wanted Adam Dunn at the trade deadline, maybe the Reds didn't want to trade him.

How about the REDS play all their games at PNC Park?!?

    5 Games - 2007
    Offense: 40 runs (8/G), 67 hits (13.4/G), 10 HRs (2/G).
    Defense: 0 errors.
    Starters: 3.86 ERA, 1.22 WHIP.

Dunn has 4 HRs. Belisle has his only MLB complete game.

It's been either he or JR for about 5 years now, yet I've heard the Reds can't afford that Dunn guy..

    Re: 8/4/2007 Reds vs Bucs

Just got home from the game. Some observations:

Livingston pitched OK--not great, but not badly either. With a high pitch count, especially when pitching on short rest, I probably wouldn't have sent him out to pitch the bottom of the sixth. (I would have let him hit in the top of the sixth, though.)

When Coffey came in, I turned to my brother and said, "That runner on first is going to score." Sure enough, he did. I like Todd, but if he is still on the 25-man roster tomorrow, then Wayne should be dismissed immediately.

When Stanton got out of the bases-loaded jam with no runs scoring, I said to my brother, "Like Jesse 'The Body' Ventura used to say, 'It's better to be lucky than good.'"

Burton pitched well. I think he's getting better.

I was glad that Edwin homered in a clutch situation--maybe that will help his confidence.

I was very confident that Keppinger would do something positive to lead off the ninth. I didn't expect the homer, but I knew he would get on base.

Adam Dunn came through when the team needed him most! I was glad it was a two-run shot, because I figured Weathers would give up one run. As I told the Pirate fan sitting next to me after Dunn's HR, "Don't give up. The Reds bullpen has to pitch one more inning."

Only if they get to play the Pirates in all of them.
