According to Fay...the manager decision will come pretty quickly this offseason....they'll check out the outside candidates that interest them, and if those candidates aren't interested, or can't agree to terms, Pete will be the guy.

He feels LaRussa still tops that list.

Sounds to me like Pete isn't their first choice, which is pretty much what I figured. They'll bring him back if they can't bring in the proven name they want, but I'm guessing if they do that, it would be a 1 year deal.

In fact, I wouldn't give him more than a 1 year deal....they have to keep locking guys up long term based on small samples.

    Or something like that

    This made my brain explode.

Does anyone else literally cringe every time they read LaRussa's name mentioned as a managerial candidate, especially as the prime one?

Sort of....then I look at his track record...

I can handle being driven crazy if they're winning.

He's not good enough to hit 3-4 and he's too good to hit 5-7.

As much as I don't really want LaRussa, I'd probably start taking hostages of they signed Baker.

OK, gang, I'm debating whether I should have a beer. I'm a little tired from work and I don't want to have one and fall asleep in the 9th inning. Yet a beer does seem like it would hit the spot. I'm torn. What do you guys think. I'll abide with the majority's decision.

It's going to take more than LaRussa batting Harang and company 8th to bring a winning record here. Spend the big bucks on pitching.
