    That mentality has to change.
I think that's a pretty big assumption. You don;t really know if "pressure" has anything to do with it.

That seems to be enough to hold down a number 5 spot should he step forward in the spring.

The innings he got in these 3 starts were very important for 2008 IMO.
Bailey needs to be in the rotation next year. For all his problems, it makes more sense for him to be at Cincy than elsewhere. He's had quite a bit of major league ball this year, the best way for him to progress is to keep seeing NL hitting.

I wouldn't call him a number 5 starter though. How many of those can you have? If it implies that he'll get skipped on off days, I wouldn't do that. Homer for number 4.

I buy into the 30 inning per year increase theory for pitchers under 25. I think Homer should have his 2008 inning load capped somewhere between 150 and 160. If he is in the majors, I hope he is handled with that in mind and being a number five who skips a start occasionally is the best way IMO. Belisle took a big inning jump in 2007 and has his floor under him now, let him be number 4 unless he totally tanks (possible). Of course a solid vet needs to be brought in somehow as a number 2 or 3.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I don't think he's ready myself. I'd rather he actually have at least a half year of domination at AAA. He's yet to do that.

    Maybe that's it...

I was hoping there was a better reason.

Well, they've also been missing their entire starting OF for a while now.

At least as a Reds' fan, I knew we weren't going anyway. If I were a Mets fan, I'd be 10 x more upset after today.

Well, unless the Astros somehow manage to lose this afternoon, it's 5th place in a very sad division. Open up the wallet Bob.

Bob said emphatically to Marty and the boys before the broadcast that things WILL be better in 2008.

I think he means it....it should be an interesting offseason
