C. Trent's 3rd inning roundup.
Like the first inning, Homer got behind Youkilis, but unlike the first, he was unable to come back. He walked him on four pitches. Homer's not been real good from the stretch this spring. One thing I noticed that I liked, Youkilis tried to dance off first, stutter and do all sorts of stuff to distract Homer while he was facing Manny. Homer didn't budge. He then threw over on the next pitch after Manny fouled one off. Guys weren't missing much against Homer. Dusty had said he expected Homer to go three today, followed by Volquez. Red Sox 2, Redlegs 1
Bailey sounded like he was off his game today. 0 GB outs and 7 FB outs. Not typical. Wonder if he was keeping the ball up in the zone a lot?
Manos de Outo
As I understand it, his toxic attitude to John Fay and Hal McCoy caused his pitches to elevate. Later, he didn't smile at a passer-by, and the ensuing bad vibes led to the ball hitting him in the butt that plated two.
I call it the Redszone spin. Some guys can do no wrong. Some guys can do no right. A few guys can do no wrong at first, then they can do no right. Homer is in that category now.
Juan Castro can do no right.
Matt Belisle can do no wrong.
If you come from another organization and are an older player, you generally can do no right.
If you come up through the Reds system and are young, you generally can do no wrong.
If you have a good OBP, you can do no wrong.
If speed is your best asset, you can do no right.
If a pitcher has good minor league perhipherals, he can do no wrong.
Homer pitched today, he can do no right.
Cueto pitches Friday, he can do no wrong.
I'm wondering about Volquez. When they got him in the trade he could do no wrong. Now I'm thinking, maybe, he can do no right.
We'll see.
Cora with soft single to start the Sawks 4th.

Homer is 21/22 this year. Belisle is 27/28. So far, Homer's had a better ST. Let's give the kid a break. He's got to build on the positives. In this game, 15 hitters, 1 walk. He was throwing strikes against a very tough lineup, and he never really gave up "the big hit."

Another trickling single. Two hits but not hard one's.

The Sawks announcers are anticipating a Sox/Cubs World Series. Sox maybe but not the Cubs. They're cursed.

Final line on Bailey -- 3 IP, 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 ER, 1 bb, 2 Ks -- 42 pitches, 28 strikes.
Olney mentioned this on his insider column, don't know the specifics as I don't subscribe. Here is a partial account from Mlbtraderumors.com:
Buster Olney says the Red Sox and A's are still discussing Coco Crisp.
Olney also notes that "talent evaluators say the Reds have demonstrated a clear willingness to deal Homer Bailey."
