Good question Doug - why does Bailey need to show 12 months of control at AAA - don't see Cueto having to do so - prejudices about players need not color what they need to achieve.

I think the REDS are going to need to decide on their rotation pretty soon to stretch out the guys who are going to be 3/4/5. Alternatively, drop a few guys to minor league camp to be stretched out but keep them in the mix.

Good point but things are still very much up in the air.

I'm not sure Matt Belisle has shown enough to warrent a lock in the rotation. If Bailey , Cueto and Volquez out pitch him he's the odd man out in my book.

The Pirates put four on the board in the 6th. All the runs are charged to Sauerbeck and he was replaced by Salmon. Sauerbeck has got to go. I don't think he's recorded three outs this spring.

Some high praise for Cueto from Valentin. This is from Fay's blog.

"If you have that kind of change-up, welcome to the big leagues," Valentin said.

Reds are scoreless in the 6th. They pretty much subbed Louisville into the lineup now. Rosales,Janish and Green are in the infield along with someone named Rios at 1st.

Salmon pitches a perfect 7th. Four K's all together. Nice job.

No arguement from me. Cueto's fastball was better than usual today. Solid 92-94 touching 95-97 at times. Usually it is a notch below that and we know what happens when it is.

We do? Cuz all evidence points to the best Starting Pitching prospect in terms of talent and results the Reds have had in over 20 years.

He dominates opposing lineups? Because that's been his norm for two years.

On a separate note, way to go Brad Salmon.

    Griffey on Cueto:
"That kid's got some (stuff)," Ken Griffey Jr. said. "Some other guys are going to turn it up, especially somebody wearing No. 34. Competition is a good thing."
    Homer wears 34, btw.

Bucs win this one 13-8. Cueto and Salmon had great games. The rest no so good. The nightcap will be on MLB.com with the Pirate announcers.

Hopefully Sauerbeck and his 40 era will be on the way out.
