I would have guessed Cueto better suited for the pen, but as long he doesn't have the same problems that Bailey's had in getting behind every single hitter he faces, I'm all for putting him in the rotation. There are still two spots vacant; the same number there were at the beginning of the offseason.

Harang, Arroyo, Cueto, Bailey, Volquez... Just do it!

Bailey has zero business taking even a guided tour of a MLB rotation this season.

Agreed. Not until he proves he has the ability to find the strike zone on a consistent basis.

    Harang
    Arroyo
    Belisle
    Cueto
    Volquez

7-5 Bucs after four. Gardner actually gave up seven runs. Phillips has four of the five RBI's for the Reds. The Reds are starting to inser the Louisville Bats into the lineup as Drew T. Anderson and Dickerson are now in the game for Freel and Griffey.

Brandon Phillips drove in another run and it's 7-6 Bucs after four. Looks like another typical Reds "pitching duel" with the Pirates.

Will Richie Gardner be in the AAA or AA rotation? That would seem to be the most pressing issue with him?
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

That all really depends upon who is on the major league roster.

If Cueto and Volquez are in Cincinnati, then Gardner probably is in AAA. If they are in Louisville, I'd say he's bumped down a notch to AA.

My guess is AAA. Its the only place he didn't have success last year.

I would think that the most pressing issue is whether he gets to stay on the 40 man roster, or gets sent through waivers

It's not silly; he needs to demonstrate a full season of complete command of all of his pitches at AAA before he should be in the Reds' MLB rotation. I wouldn't care if he was traded to another team and pitched out of their rotation, though...

Adkins and Sauerbeck combine for a scoreless inning. 7-6 Bucs in the 5th.

Why? Is a month of it not good enough? Two months? What about three? Why, if he demonstrates what you want to see, for 5 or 10 starts should he continue to stay down for another 15 or 20 before being in the Reds rotation?

The Reds make the extra point and we are tied at seven going to halftime errr... the 6th inning.
