How good defensively is Laird?
solid, good not great but better than anything the Reds have. He does have a little upside as a hitter ... although he seems to be the typical catcher(offensive performance all over the place).
Marty and Jeff think, after to taking Dusty, believe Votto will open at 1b regardless of the spring numbers. Jeff is high on Votto, thinks he will have a good season.
He's supposed to be good defensively. I imagine if the deal were to involve Bailey there would be more players involved. But do not underestimate the shortage of quality catching around the league, nor the level of desperation the Reds may be feeling.Bailey for Laird? No thanks.

If Homer Bailey is going to the Rangers for a catcher, I want that catcher to be Taylor Teagrden plus another prospect.
I'd give 'em Belisle for Laird though.
BTW, JB thinks the Reds should trade Belisle(no AAA or bullpen) if they don't want him in the rotation.
