Aside from Fogg, the starting pitching been very good so far. Hopefully Volquez continues that trend tomorrow.

Since he is better defensively than Javy, I wonder if Bako stays when Ross comes back.

Reds would then cut Valentin. Or trade Hatte and keep Valentin as a first baseman/pinch hitter/emergency catcher.

I like Hatteberg better, too. But he might bring more in a trade.

    Revenge of former Cubs!

Great job by the Reds battling back and winning this one.
Five years ago today, Paul Bako went 4-for-5 with a triple and 6 RBI's in a 9-7 Cubs win over the Reds at GABP. That was the game in which Ken Griffey, Jr. injured his shoulder.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Right now EE has a .154/450 BA/OB split.

    Haha that is awesome.

    Agreed.

If they keep Bako as the backup C, and Valentin turns into the designated PH, then I would much prefer that designated PH be Hatteberg than Valentin.

Bako > Valentin as a defensive catcher and a game caller. I would much rather him work with this young staff than Valentin.

More importantly, 1-0 gamethread starter on the year. I deserve a gameball or something.

If nothing else, that is an example of the offensive value that a player can still have while not hitting well.

Avoid outs, and you can play for me any day of the week.
