    Centerfielder...leadoff. Check.

    Shortstop...bats second. Check.

Seriously, is Dusty a dense robot or what?

The audio is not matching the Creeper-Dusty interview. It's like a Japanese monster movie.

I looked at Lee's 3 year splits and lefties actually hit him better (this year being the exception, but nobody's hitting him), so I'm a little surprised not to see Votto or Hatteberg out there.

Surprisingly, I don't find much to argue with. Janish in the 2 spot is bonkers but Valentin against Lee doesn't bother me much. Votto can pinch hit later if needed. Andy Phillips would look a lot better in Javy's spot though. Just saying.

The Reds have *NEVER* swept the Indians in a series during interleague.

Right now, Griffey hits LH pitching than Valentin hits LH pitching.

Which is to say, neither does.

    Lieup I expected to see:

    Freel
    Hariston
    Phillips
    Votto
    EE
    Dunn
    Ross
    Janish

    Re: Reds vs. Indians 5-18-08

Pregame today on TV: Dusty said he had Dunn bunting to avoid the double play. Welch said something like Dunn might be more likely to homer than bunt well. Dusty sorta huffed, and then said something like well he was more likely to hit into a DP than homer.

Truth is that Dunn hit into 12 DPs last year while homering 40 times. This year he has hit into 2 DPs, while hitting 9 dingers. Once again, Dusty needs to brush off his stat sheet and his calculator. (If he has either...) Dunn is 4 times more likely to homer than hit into a double play. .

C'mon. Decisions shouldn't be based on reality.

    Center Fielders lead off.

    Shortstops hit 2nd.

Lefty pitches are tough on lefty hitters.

These are absolute truths. Don't fight it.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Edinson struggling to throw strikes so far.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
