I'll take a fist pump in that situation any day.
    Great bit of pitching

Excellent job by Volquez. Two huge K's of Ankiel and Glaus to end the inning.

Volquez threw 25 pitches that inning and is now at 80 pitches through 6.

    Get him some runs please.

Glad to see Volquez returning to form. Can he win 20??

    Not with this offense.

If Volquez can keep the ball in the yard, he can win twenty easily. Even with this offense.

This pitching staff simply HAS to keep the ball out of the cheap seats.

Phillips potentially costs the Reds an important insurance run. Geez. This offense is bad enough but when you give away outs it's a killer.

Sure enough, that should have been an RBI double by Edwin

And Phillips runs himself in to an out costing the Reds a run... Our baserunning is just pathetic.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Phillips is not a classic basestealer. In fact, the Reds haven't had one of those since Deion. So just don't.

And of course EdE follows that pickoff with a double. That pickoff will come back to haunt the Reds.

Brandon Phillips stinks at the "little things". I hear announcers and commentators talking about him being the face of the "new" Reds. Until he stops the mental constipation he will never assume that mantle.

The things Brandon Phillips stinks at are increasing in number.

Is that Kepp's first RBI in a couple of months or what?
