Dickerson showed an excellent eye in the minors as evidenced by his OBP being 103 points higher than his batting average.

It looks like the Reds offense is falling asleep.

Bako's defense may not be GG and his bat makes Bill Plummer look like J Bench.....but he knows how to coach these pitchers. It is something that will be overlooked beacuse of his hitting and ties to Baker.

    After 4 innings:

    Reds 2, Cards 0

    Volquez 39 pitches, 25 strikes
    Lohse 69 pitches, 46 strikes.

9 pitch inning there for Lohse, his easiest yet.

Marty may have just jinxed that one thing that pitchers don't like to talk about....

Ankiel flies out to begin the 5th but after getting ahead 1-2 on Glaus Volquez started throwing his 3rd and 4th best pitches and walked him. Kennedy of all people singles to break up the no no.

Five shutout innings on 55 pitches for Volquez.

Or maybe it's because his BA was .260 for his minor league career.

Dickerson also struck out about 30 percent of his at bats and struck out more than twice as much as he walked.

Lohse is a sissy. Hopefully Volquez puts one in Lohse's ribs next time.

One of the Reds hard throwers should plunk Pujols later in the game.
