    Votto is 3-for-3.

Joey Votto is on fire; he raps another base hit. Average up to .292.

Then Votto gets caught stealing as the Reds give away another out.

...of course, he then catches the same crappy-baserunning bug as the rest of the post-offense Reds.

Yeah the Reds taking him off the DL too soon didn't have any affect on him what so ever.

There's a reason why Kepp has been a journeyman player. You're seeing it here. Play him in spots and he can look awesome, but play him everyday, and you get a guy who is going to hit .260 with no pop and little defensive powress.

The injury IMHO didn't change any of that. He is what his is--a backup.

I don't think Keppinger's injury had anything to do with his subsequent slump at the plate. He's just regressed towards the mean. The real Jeff is somewhere between the Boggsian exploits of 2007 and this year's Oesterisms.

It might have further hurt his already-poor range afield, but since the guy just can't play shortstop in the major leagues I think you'd all be complaining about it regardless of whether or not he'd broken his kneecap.

I hope the Reds keep him and use him as a utility player and pinch-hitter in 2009; he could have a lot of use filling it at six positions. And he'll hit much better than many players of that ilk.

Bruce walks again. He's got three walks today. That's great to see.

You know, our bottom three - Patterson, Bako, and Arroyo are pitiful. In fact, Bronson is the best hitter of the three which is sad. I'll continue my chant--we need offense!

Bases loaded with two outs for Bronson.

Arroyo doubles! Two runs score, Bako is thrown out at the plate though.

    5-2 Reds after 5!

I'd much rather have Arroyo at the plate over Bako and Patterson, and I mean that.

Oh, I'll agree it affected him, but not to a huge degree. He has a .660 OPS.

He's better than that, but he's not a .800 guy.

He's nice utility player, but that's all.
