Ramirez has already thrown a couple breaking balls, something he didn't do much of in his debut.

Ramirez throws a 1-2-3 4th inning with a pop out, flyout to shallow RF, and a strikeout. His chnageup is filthy.

It goes well. Nine pitches to set down the 7-8-9 hitters on a popup to second, a liner to right, and a strikeout of the pitcher.

    5-2 Pirates after 3.5.

It went well. Out in order. No reason he should not have started today.

Wilkin Castillo hits a one out ground rule double to deep left center.

And now Ramirez lines a single to RF, his first major league hit. First and third and only one out.

Hanigan leads off the fourth and again gets ahead in the count, 2-0. Called strike on a high fastball. Fly out to center.

Castillo falls behind 0-2, but golfs a fastball deep to left-center that's gone on the bounce for a ground-rule double!

Ramirez punches a base hit to right! Corners, one out.

Dickerson is the tying run. He takes a slider for a strike. Then a curveball for another one. Fastball's outside. Another evens the count, but Chris goes down swinging at a neck-high number one for out number two.

Keppinger drives one in with a double (which he stood there and watched, thinking it may go foul)

Keppinger fouls off the first pitch, but comes up with the big hit on the next one! The double scores Castillo and moves Ramirez to third. 5-3 Pirates.

Out goes Gorzelanny and in comes flame-throwing, control-impaired ex-Indian and Mariner Jason Davis.

Phillips has a chance to be clutch here. He falls behind 0-2 after fouling off a pair of sliders. He pops up to shallow right, ending the inning.

    5-3 Pirates after 4.
