122 pitches for Bronson. You can tell he's done. Great outing by Arroyo. Really nice to see him do a complete 180 this season. A lot of pitchers who've struggled as badly as Bronson did would've mentally packed it in. Nice to see some pride out of a veteran in a lost season.

Arroyo out with one out, runner on second is his. 9-1 Reds.

Bronson threw 122 pitches tonight....we will see how he does next time out.

I'm serious when I say this: I would rather have Bob Boone or Dave Miley as manager over Dusty Baker

While I agree he should have been pulled after 6, I wouldn't go so far as to say that Arroyo's brilliant start ws ruined.

And while 120 pitches is a lot, they were mostly stress free, given the Reds scoring early and often. That makes a big difference in assessing stress on the arm. Arroyo was throwing free and easy.

Still there's no reason to send him out for the 7th inning.

Now come on...120 is not really that bad of a thing...especially for a pitcher like Arroyo. I personally would've preferred he pulled him before this inning or after the lead off walk. Did he leave him in too long...yes, but not by much and it's far from abusing a pitcher.

Even with an 8 run lead I don't feel comfortable with Majewski pitching.

Dusty was prepared to let him go to 200 pitches to get Bronson the complete game.

Hank said it's important for pitchers to throw complete games "for their confidence".

FWIW, the stats (K's, W's and HR's allowed) suggest that Arroyo isn't doing anything different now other than getting better BABIP luck.

He's basically had the same DIPS ERA for three years now, and while his actual ERA has dropped dramatically as the year has worn on, his DIPS ERA has remained pretty consistent all year. Which, if you believe in DIPS, was likely to happen.

Are there no better options in the pen than Majewski?

How in the world does Gary Majewski still have a spot on this roster?
