Well, what do you know. Patterson swings at the first pitch and gets a SF and it's 1-0 Reds. Even a blind squirrel...

First pitch swinging by Patterson results in a sac fly, 1-0 Reds.

    Re: Reds vs Cubs 9/7/08

A few years ago I was at a Reds/Pads game in San Diego when DaMeet was playing regularly. I got into a conversation with the Pads fan sitting next to me and ended up betting him a beer that if DaMeet came up at least 4 times in that game that he would swing at the first pitch at least three times. By Young's third AB (around the 5th inning) I had my beer.

I would be pretty confident about making that same bet with Corey Patterson in the lineup. :

Harang throws a 1-2-3 third inning with a couple K's in the inning.

The Reds go in order in the third inning but they forced Marshall to throw 19 pitches and run his pitch count to 55.

    1-0 Reds after three innings.

Oh man, Phillips is beating himself up with a couple of foul balls off his (looks like) left knee. Grounds down to 2nd base and just hobbles down to first.

This guy might need a break here.

Hoffpauir singles to begin the Cubs 4th. That's the first Cubs hit of the game.

Harang was dominant through three innings but now the Cubs have loaded the bases with nobody out.
