And with a rookie pitching I can somehow understand it. But this late in the season, Edinson does not need his hand held. His feet are more than just wet...he's swimming in the deep end of the pool. Same can be said for Johnny. It's time to bench him, dfa him, get a block of wood and freaking hobble him like in Mercy. Just get him out of there and put in Hanigan. Give him every freaking start from here on out.

As I figured...he's settled down and gotten in a groove. But there's still no reason to have him pitch extended innings this late in the year. I'd hope he gets a moderately light load tonight.

Shut Cueto and Volquez down now, then there will be someone next year saying that they need to be shut down during a playoff race (I know, longshot) because they will be over 30 innings more than the previous year.

No matter what, someone is going to have a problem with how the pitchers are being handled. Just a by product of the internet age.

I agree completely. At some point, Dusty HAS to try to stretch out these two thoroughbreds. They've got to learn how to pitch late into the season. But that being said, they also need to be handled more carefully this late in the season than they were earlier.

I see your point and know it is a no win situation that the team is in, as all the teams are with risk etc. It just makes me nervous, it will probably be just fine.

Phillips grounds back to Bush on the first pitch. It's hard to find a worse 1-2-3 than what the Reds are trotting out there tonight.
