Only 43 pitches for Volquez to finish 2 innings.

After Baker went too long with Volquez last start, it would have been nice for him to get an extra day before the next one. EV doesn't have it tonight. Wonder if Dusty is still going to ride him over 100 pitches -- ya know, give him that extra long opportunity to win 20.

Nearly another HR. A FB drives Bruce to the wall. This should be a VERY short night for Edinson. "Fairly" high pitch count last time out, late in the year, and he obviously doesn't have it tonight. This would be a good night to have a light load on Edinson.

I was waiting for the first potshot at the Dust for Volquez's struggles tonight.

Volquez 4.55 ERA over last 10 starts--tired or regressing to what might be career norms?

Good point. Mixing in a very high pitch count last start plus him reaching unchartered territory in innings pitched can be a very bad combo. He doesn't have anything tonight.

Tired. He's never thrown this many innings before.

The Milwaukee announcer just referred to Keppinger as 'the Reds slick-fielding shortstop'. HUH???

And the 2 out rally was rather shortlived. Votto grounds out to second.

    What do I win?

I assume you're on board with Dusty's quest to help EV get twenty wins, all the way up to 120 pitches here in September?

Now, to be fair to Edinson, we've seen this before. Early struggles then settling down for a dominant rest of the game. If I recall correctly, he stated something about if he warms up really well that it doesn't translate to the game or something along those lines.
