Must say, these last few games have been fun to watch. And the young guys got some great experience playing in meaningful, close games.

This team is playing great baseball right now. They swept the Giants. Lost two of three to the Pirates but both losses were by just one run. Took two of three from the Cubs and have now taken the first two in Milwaukee.

    Re: reds vs brewers 9/9/08

Good win and a few observations:

    1. The Brewers appear to be hacking at everything somewhat like some of the Reds players do. It doesn't look good on them.

    2. Our young starter showed me something tonight. he battled adversity and pitched 1-hit ball over 6 innings. You can't argue with that.

    3. Votto and Bruce may make us forget Dunn and Griffey--almost.

    4. Dusty needs to be rid of his toys--Corey, Bako, and Hairston. Hairston, post-injury-- is showing why no one wanted him this year.

    5. Andy Phillips is a waste of bench space. I know he did nothing wrong tonight, but what purpose does he serve? Same goes for Veaentin.

    6. Castillo needs to play every inning. Pinch hitting Hairston for him was simply ignorance.

    7. I hope Dickerson gets well soon.

Since August 17th the Reds are 12-9 and six of those nine losses were by one run. They have outscored their opponents 108-94 in that time.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's game. Honestly, that's the 1st time I've said that in a while.
CC vs. Arroyo should be a great matchup.

CC's performance reminds me of another ultra-dominant performance by a former Cleveland Indian after they were traded mid-season...Rick Sutcliffe in 1984.

    Re: reds vs brewers 9/9/08

The Brewers are really down now. Ned Yost was beside himself most of the night. They're pressing and swinging at anything. Arroyo just might be able to match pitch for pitch with CC, and if the Reds can be patient at the plate and work long counts, we may have a chance, but no matter. We've won the series with the Brewers and Bill Hall wasn't a factor. Life is good.

Opps. I forgot the Brewers come to Cincy for three games next week.
