Still, though, 4-2 Reds after 7.
The ump gave Looper a huge strikezone tonight. There were some terrible strike calls on EdE before he doubled, and also some borderline strike calls on Bruce.

Makes sense. St. Louis is still in the hunt for the WC, Reds are about 95 GB. IMO, Frank Thomas couldn't have been more right about the size of the strike zone for teams in and out of the playoff race.

Izturis singles but Skippy grounds into a doubleplay. Nice play by Hairston.

Agreed. As I type this Weathers gets squeezed on a 1-1 pitch to Lopez.

Lopez K's. Nice inning by Weathers.

    4-2 Reds after 7 1/2.

    Arroyo: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 4.57 ERA

This is why some of the more scrupulous posters have pointed to his FIP when it looked like the sky was falling with Bronson earlier this season.

Bronson Arroyo has been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball since the first of July. I bet teams like the Phillies and Mets are kicking themselves right now for not trading for Arroyo.

Votto grounds out. EdE walks and Bruce lines a single to center. First and second one out for Kepp.

    Votto grounds out to 1st.

    EE walks.

Bruce lines a single into CF.

Kepp up with 2 on and 1 down.

Keppinger infield single loads the bases for Patterson. Still only one out.

Good, I for one like him as both a pitcher and his personality (and since I don't live in Cincy, I'm not forced to see his commercials).

Can we have someone hit for CP, please?

The Cards are bringing in a lefty to face Patterson. I'd consider pinch hitting with Micah Owings here.

Believe it or not, the new ones are actually worse than the old ones.
