Reds seem really happy for Harang. Pitched a great game tonight.

Miles flies out to Hairston in left field! A five pitch inning for Harang and a complete game shutout! Phenomenal start by Harang.

    9 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K, 111 pitches. Nice pitch efficiency too.

    Cards' 3-4-5 hitters tonight: 1-12 (2B), 0 BB, 1 K.

    Pretty dang impressive by Harang.

111 pitches is fine......he looked sharp and never very taxed or pressured. He seems healthy and back to being a horse.

111 pitches in nine innings is solid. I don't think anyone has a problem with that. It's the 111 pitches in five innings that bug people.

This team seems more focused as a TEAM than when the two big guys were on it. That may or may not have anything to do with those big guys....but the results seem better

They looked a little lost shortly after the trades but that's to be expected. They'll find there way w/o them and they'll be just fine.

The big question was how to 'replace' that offense.....maybe that's not the right way to look at it. Maybe you don't have to 'replace' anything...

Focused. I'm not so sure. This team is mostly devoid of talent across the board, but enthusiasm makes up for some of that. You have to consider that the pitching has been superior lately. You don't need many runs if that is the case. Arroyo pitches a gem last night and Harang a better gem tonight. No pressure because the staff is doing its job.

We don't know what the chemistry was when Griffey and Dunn were here, but the pitching was worse and that makes a big difference. It's understood that this won't happen every night and more offense and defense is needed to make this club a contender and I think everyone from WJ to DB knows this. The recent winning streak has a lot more to do with other teams not playing well than what we're doing unfortunately. But I'll take it every night and the only danger if we believe that we have it all, winning games with 4 hits and 3 runs when reality tells us that it really isn't going to do it over a 162-game season.

They have plenty of work to do to make this team a contender, but I like what they have to work with...they may finally have the right kind of foundation in place in which to build something solid.
