Well thats why he now has 13 games of 110+ pitches this year.... so he won't be tired next year.

Rosales doubles to deep left to begin the 7th. I'd pinch hit for Bako here. Get this run in and get Volquez off the hook.

I honestly don't know why Bako is hitting here. He squares to bunt and takes a strike, then bunts the next pitch foul, and then pops a bunt up. Paul Bako is the most worthless player I've ever seen. I can't understand why he continues to play.

There are a lot of really dumb people in baseball making personnel deciscions.

I'm sorry, it's not just Bako, it's bunting. I hate bunting. It is usually counter-productive, even when it works.

See THIS site for an analysis of bunting. The chances of scoring one run with a runner on second and no outs is 60%. THe chances of scoring one run with a runner on third and one out is 66%. Of course, there is also a significant chance the bunt does not work, and you end up with a runner on second and one out, with a 40% probability of scoring.

I just hate giving up outs.

Andy Phillips grounds out on ball four. What is with those Phillips boys and not being bale to lay off awful pitches at the ankles?

It looks like letting Paul Bako hit may end up costing the Reds a chance at winning this game.

Dusty's given up 2 outs since the 5th, having Volquez hit/bunt and Bako hit/bunt. One more time and it'll make a full inning. And the team's been behind, too.

Russ Springer in to relieve Lohse with two outs and runners on the corner for Keppinger. I still can't believe Dusty let Bako hit. Pinch hitting there was a no-brainer.

But who would have played catcher? We don't have anyone else.

Keppinger does what he does best - a weak pop out. Letting Paul Bako hit probably cost us a run.

Keppinger has a .650 OPS but continues to hit second thanks to his great contact AKA weak pop out/doubleplay skills.

In comes Roenicke to face the meat of the Cards order.
