    Re: Favorite Albums - 2008

Two albums I have listened to endlessly and am still into after months and months are Jessica Lea Mayfield's With Blasphemy So Heartfelt and Mount Eerie's Lost Wisdom. The former is an 18 year old bluegrass/country singer songwriter with strong 'indie' leanings and the latter is just the coolest lo-fi folk musician ever to come out of Anacortes, Washington.

I was also digging on the new Nada Surf (yeah, Nada Surf) and Crystal Castles (hipster electronica). Other then that there has been a lot of good/ok albums that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Oh and as long as we're nominating albums from 2007 (see: In Rainbows) I'd like to mention the National's Boxer album. :-)

Here is a video of Ms. Mayfield:

Just bought the new McCartney/Fireman album Electric Arguments. Quite different for Paul, but I like it the more I listen to it.

Echoing a lot of people here with Kings of Leon (their first album I've liked), Vampire Weekend and Weezer.

I thought Common had a very underrated album come out with Universal Mind Control. I put that album on in the car and just groove to my destination.

Black Kids Partie Traumatic and MGMT's Oracular Spectacular were two kinda off the radar that I also really enjoyed from start to finish.

I am by no means calling this album of the year, but I have been enjoying Scott Weiland's (of Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver fame) Happy 2 CD set that just came out. Very mellow compared to his group efforts.

I agree--very good album. I was a huge STP fan, but I think Weiland's best work has come post-STP.
