I'm glad they didn't have a microphone on Bailey during the game. In the first ending he dropped the F-bomb a good five to six times. Then he had GD going on a couple of times.

I saw the last inning of Bailey's outing, but from what I am reading, McClelland was reinforcing his status as most overrated and frustrating umpire in MLB. His delayed hand signals are all about "hey, look at me, I'm the umpire and I'm in control of this game."

I know this strays a little from the thread, but Fox had a mike that picked up the ump at second in a play in the Cubs Chisox game. A White Sox runner was called out after his foot slid off the bag in a steal. The shortstop kept his glove on him and the ump saw it plain as day. The runner lamely made some comment asking about his foot sliding off and getting called on that. The ump responded he wasn't out there to overlook something like that.

McClelland definitely had a small strike zone. It reminded me of the strike zone of 15 years ago. Homer is probably the worst guy we could throw in that situation but to his credit he persevered. He does need to throw more strikes in the big leagues. McClelland aside, I think the strike zones are smaller at this level and the hitters tend to lay off more bad pitches. Let's see if Homer can adjust.

I was pleased to see a 98 MPH FB from him. I'd only heard of such a thing from him. They didn't center too many of his pitches. Seems like they finally gave him the OK to go back to 4 seamers.

I will be excited for when Homer isn't called up to face the Indians in mid-June. That seems to be his lot in life.

Got it under his belt, he perservered, he and the team move on. He said all the right things, and, actually, he was right. The important thing was the team won. They need to stick with him for awhile and see if he can make some strides at the majors this time around.

I think it's because the name "Coco" evokes images of an exotic dancer, much like "Jasmine", "Destiny", and "Mystique". And who really wants an image of Francisco Cordero associated with that?!
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

It seems to me there are more legitimate Cocos out there, including the inimitable Coco Crisp (fortified with vitamins!).

Calling Francisco Cordero "Coco" is kind of a stretch. Might as well call him Frodo or Costco.
