According to the Cubs announcers Rickey never referred to himself in the 3rd person in his Hall of Fame induction speech. That has to be the upset of the day.

Given his wildness on that slider, perhaps it's an elbow thing...
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Alex Gonzalez is truly one of the worst hitters I have ever seen.

Could have easily beat that 3rd strike to 1st if he ran. Oh well, he was a stylin at least.

Cards getting rocked 9-2, although DeRosa, Holliday, Lugo are a combined 5-7 with walk and 2 ribbies.

    Owings...tightness in his right shoulder.

There goes the trade talk of Harang and Arroyo out the door. They will have to stay so we can have a pitching staff for the rest of the year.

Pure conjecture, but maybe this injury sparks the Reds interest in moving Owings to the outfield. Sending him down to the minors for a year a la Ankeil?

Facing the Reds seems to help struggling pitchers.

    Fixed that for you.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.
