8.27.09 Reds at Brewers- Day baseball!

    going for the sweep!

Posted by JohnFay at 8/27/2009 12:05 PM EDT on Cincinnati.com

    Drew Stubbs cf
    Paul Janish ss
    Joey Votto 1b
    Brandon Phillips 2b
    Scott Rolen 3b
    Wladimir Balentien rf
    Jonny Gomes lf
    Craig Tatum c
    Justin Lehr p

    vs. Dave Bush (3-4, 5.67).

Apparently Nix's performance of late was too poor to warrant his inclusion in the lineup. (Or he is hurt but the Reds have been too healthy for that to be the case.)

Surprised to see Nix out of there as well.

    Stubbs flies out.
    Janish walks.

To have Nix out there would be to play the best lineup, which violates Dusty's principles.

    Votto K's
Phillips pops out to Right field

Votto's looking like he will finish the year with similar numbers from last year. Big time slump this past month.

I'd like to take this time to say that I wasn't online yesterday when it happened but I couldn't stop laughing when Kip Wells was left in to face Prince and Welsh said "Look out for the first pitch" and Prince proceeds to smash the first pitch for a HR.

I feel bad for Lehr (because I want all Reds to do well) but I'm glad that he's being exposed as not very good now rather than later.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Surprised the Reds didn't hold a presser this AM announcing Lehr signing a 3Yr/12M contract...

Lehr, Michalak and Shearn should go out for a beer one night and compere stories.

    Prince probably wins the game.

    Who's pitching tomorrow?

Oh, the Dodgers. That should be fun. Reds really play them tough, LOL.

FWIW, Reds have won three in a row and this looks like a loss. Dusty, let Lehr stay out there. Save the pen today.
