I wonder how the Bailey bashers will spin this game. Luck? LA was fatigued from the flight?

He may be looking offspeed. Throwing one after another fastballs can be deceptive.

Stubbs' best attribute right now, offensively, is his patience. Sometimes that will result in called third strikes. It's ok. He's a very impressive young centerfielder if you ask me. His defense is special out there and he contributes offensively. With time, he'll improve.

I don't understand this infield that the Dodgers are using with Votto. Has Joey shown that much of an indication to pull the ball? From what I've seen, he uses the whole field. Just strikes me as odd.

Well, the K makes it a moot point. But still....

With Stubbs it could also be the change in coaching from what Louisville wanted him to do to what the Reds want him to do at the plate.

Brandon with a single, but is nailed trying to swipe second. Durnit.

Seriously though, his OPS+ in that time period is over 115. So his numbers are still solid even then. Consider he's hitting at a park, where clearly he feels comfortable in, and add in his age, and I think it's not unreasonable to think this is not too much a fluke.
I'll give you '08 cuz he was injured but that still leaves '06/'07. His OPS+ over his career is skewed from the really good seasons. Could he have a legit .850+ OPS next year? Sure he can but it's not a lock. We'll have a bunch of outfielder options next year (even if Taveras is gone) so it should be interesting how the outfield sorts itself out.

Phillips has not been very effecient on the basepaths this season. Seems like he is guessing a lot.

Manny's act has to be growing old on his teammates.

Brandon, 20 out of 29 on stolen bases, which is not very good.

Text-book bunt single by Furcal. No chance for Votto.

Brantley on Furcal: "With his kind of speed he could walk down there."

23 out of 33 last year, pretty much the same.

Reminds me of that fateful game against St. Louis. I would not have sent Bailey out there.

Last season he had 23 steals in 33 attempts. This season 20 in 29. I'd love it if he had 32 steals in 40 attempts like he did in '07 but I'm not sure we should expect that.
