It's one thing to be concerned about relying on a marginal talent, but Stobbs is a former high first round pick with exceptional tools.

If he hits even a bit, he's an asset.

Our quickest way to being a decent team is for guys like Stubbs to produce.

Nice play by Rolen to end the 9th.

Extra frames. Rolen with a patented excellent play to end regulation.

The mystical Rolen shows why he's good for everyone. George calls him the "third sacker."

No, I hope we're seeing the real Drew Stubbs, but I have to wonder if it's all a mirage. He wasn't performing like this in AAA. In fact, he has more homers here than nearly a whole season in Louisville.

Barky Bark and the Funky Bunch up to PH.

The umps apparently thought "Moylan" was "Maddux" in a Braves uni, and have now expanded the strike zone by 3 inches. 3 of em called this inning so far.

I'm not that suprised. This guy has significant power, always did. I think he tried in the minors to avoid strikeouts and to get on base ,and shortened his swing and went deep into counts.

For whatever reason, perhaps Dusty's influence, he seems less interested in walks at this level. When he first came up he went very deep into the count, not so much now.

The likely result is a lower OBP but more power hitting.

Meanwhile, Gomes fans looking and there are now two down for the Reds in the tenth with Miller up.

Corky actually makes an out this time, as opposed to last time where he fouled it into the ground and was called out.

    Micah in to pitch

I just looked at the lineups & remaining pitchers....I knew Viola was up, but when did Ramon Ramirez come back up?

If you're going to bring Owings in, why not save your PH Barker and go ahead and use Micah?

    Hmmm...good point. I didn't think of that.

    Well, apparently, neither did Dusty.
