I apologize for the lack of a game thread today on behalf of the moderators.

But at least the Reds won.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Cubs made 3 errors and two runs were unearned. The winning rally included a Gomes Walk, a Barker PH walk and a Sutton PH 2 run Double. Blind dogs get their bone.

Not at all. Happy they won, but its not like they scored 7 runs in some encouraging manner for next season. It was through Cubs errors and guys who likely won't be on the team next year coming through.

Barker looks like a decent guy to have as a PH.... I bet the Reds could have used him in 1977 over Mike Lum and Champ Summers.

I've been thinking this too about Barker. As a pure pinch-hitter, the guy may have a shot. Doubt we can spare a spot for somebody in that role, though.

Agreed. He is more suited to a team that is actually in contention and has their starting 8 pretty much set. He is the old time LH PH ...like Terry Crowley...Jim Dwyer...Dane Iorg. Main guy off the bench...rarely starts....not much speed.
